Homecoming Safety Alert

As we begin our week of Homecoming festivities, it is critically important for you to be mindful of your personal safety and remain aware of the potential dangers that may confront you both on and off the campus. We want you to enjoy the celebration from beginning to end in a safe atmosphere. As such, please adhere to these suggestions and procedures intended to maximize your personal safety in this living and learning environment.
· Practice safety at all times.
· Please have your SSU identification card with you and visible.
· Report suspicious individuals and/or activities to the SSU Campus Police Department: 912-358-3004 or 912-358-3010; report campus crime information to Crimestoppers of Savannah-Chatham County at 912-234-2020 or SSU Silent Witness at 912-358-3014.
· Familiarize yourself with the location and use of the Emergency Call Boxes located throughout the campus.
· Protect your personal property and information.
· At night, stick to well-lighted, populated areas and walk with another person.
· Avoid walking alone or in isolated areas.
· Follow your gut instincts: if you sense that you may be at-risk or in danger, try to get out of the situation.
· Do not leave entrance doors open.
· Do not open doors for strangers and NEVER let a stranger into your building.
· Your voicemail greetings and social media statuses give information about your personal life and daily habits. Please be mindful not to post information that may put you at risk.
· Report inoperative exterior campus lighting to SSU Campus Police Department.
Your education and well-being remain at the forefront of our concerns. We encourage you to exercise safety at all times. HAVE AN ENJOYABLE AND SAFE HOMECOMING!
