> Miss Savannah State University(SSU) is a prominent title given to one SSU female student who shows extraordinary class, character, academic achievement and is active on campus and in the community. Miss SSU is chosen by her peers and once she is voted in she spends a year servicing the university and implementing new policies.

> Once their reign is over Miss SSU graduates and goes on to fulfill her dreams but what happens to Miss SSU when she leaves her collegiate throne? I was able to get in touch with two former Miss SSUs; Tirrany Thurmond (2008-2009) and Jordan Riles (2010-2011) to get an update on what they have achieve since the end of their reigns and graduation.

> Since graduating in May 2009 with a degree in behavior analysis, Tirrany has still been apart of the SSU family.

> “I joined the Admissions team at Savannah State University. SSU had played such a vital role in my life that it was an easy decision for me to stay in Savannah and assist my Alma mater with recruiting students,” says Thurmond.

> With her helping out SSU admissions, Tirrany became catapulted with higher education from there she begin to travel around the state of Georgia mentoring and talking to the youth about the importance of higher education.

> In addition to that Tirrany served as an admissions counselor, which focused on regional and minority recruitment. Her current position now is an academic advisor in the College of Education at Georgia Southern University and the school’s coordinator of recruitment. Tirrany is also a full-time graduate student in the Counselor Education program , she hopes that one day she can open her own counseling practice.

> Jordan Riles, a part of the May 2011 graduating class entered the work force within two weeks of graduating. She began her journey in Radio and Advertising sales within the next year she moved on to television doing the same thing. Jordan also won the opportunity to serve Georgia as Miss Black Georgia 2013 from there she competed in the Miss Black USA pageant and placed in the top 15.

> “Now that my term as Miss Black Georgia is nearing it’s end, I desire to help those young ladies who want to participate in pageants and will do so as the new State Director of the future Miss Black Georgia Queens,” stated Riles.

> Jordan is also engaged and will marry in December, she is currently employed by Dillard’s INC. where she is the business manager of the lingerie department. Jordan also owns a LLC called Joy Enterprises(J. Enterprises ) which allows her to assist businesses in marketing, events and more.

> These two former queens serviced SSU with class and dignity and years after their reign they are still making their Alma Mater proud with pride with all of their accomplishments.
