This past weekend was Easter weekend. It is one of the most celebrated festivals of the Christian church today. Easter weekend involves Good Friday as well as the Resurrection Sunday. Good Friday is the Friday before Easter. It is a symbol of the day that Jesus was crucified on the cross.

A lot of faiths fast and pray on that day to show their appreciation for Jesus sacrifice. Easter Sunday, also known as the Resurrection Sunday is a symbol of the day that Jesus rose up out of the tomb they put him in after he was crucified.

A lot of students here at Savannah State celebrate this significant Sunday as well. I interviewed a few of them to see what Easter means to them. They are Camille Davis, Jasmine Ratliff, and Joshua Head.

Davis said, “Easter to me is a time to give thanks to Jesus for dying for my sins and rising up again, so that I have a chance to live again.”

Ratliff said, “Easter to me is a chance to be around family and give thanks to God for sending his son to die for me. I normally go to church and then enjoy family time and doing activities.”

Head said, “Easter to me is a representation of the death burial and more importantly the resurrection. It is a time for me to show thanks and appreciation to Jesus Christ for his sacrifice and love he showed for all of mankind, even after they crucified him.”

Easter to me is a time of giving thanks to Jesus for everything that he did and is doing for me. I thank him for dying on that rugged cross for the remissions of my sins, as well as rising again to show that he is God.

Easter time is always a great time for most. It is also a chance to see people you haven’t seen in a while. It is usually a time to bring people back together if only for that day.
