Savannah State University’s Center for the Advancement of Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ACE) will observe Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Nov. 18-21, 2013. This is SSU’s second observance of GEW, which is considered the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. GEW events are open to the public.

“The GEW events are designed to provide students, faculty, staff and the broader Savannah community with a platform where they can learn more about launching successful business ventures to promote business growth, which will fuel the economic engines of the city, state and country,” said Chevanese L. Samms Brown, Ph.D., assistant professor of management and director of the ACE Center.

SSU’s four-day event will include a showcase for student entrepreneurs, a speed mentoring session and a series of free workshops, some of which are presented in conjunction with the best of Georgia’s entrepreneurship and small business resources including: Technology Association Georgia (TAG)-Savannah, Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), Junior Achievement of Georgia, Small Business Assistance Corporation (SBAC), and Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) Savannah.

A component of SSU’s College of Business Administration (COBA), the ACE Center provides a forum that helps entrepreneurs create, develop and maintain their business ventures. The center facilitates networking opportunities, creates workshops and hosts speaker series that will build the capacity for creativity and entrepreneurship among SSU and community members. COBA is the only business program in Savannah accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
